Muintir na Mointeach = The Folk of the Peatlands

Muintir Na Mointeach – The Folk of the Peatlands are a community development group based on the Southwest shore of Lough Neagh. The group operates a community facility, The Washingbay Healthy Living centre located at the Washingbay. The association has over 20 local groups working out of the centre and caters for many young and older people in this rural area.

These Groups and their activities focus on the social connectivity, well-being, physical and mental health of our community. Muintir Na Mointeach through community development best practice seeks to develop the local area, promote to the public including local inhabitants and visitors so they can enjoy the rural Washingbay area. We also hope to create a hub to aid advancement of community education, recreational and leisure facilities and the development of volunteering.
